As an In-House Trainer at T.F. O’Brien, your primary responsibility is educating and re-certifying our staff on the theoretical and practical aspects of the skilled trades curriculum in a classroom setting. As well as soft skills and internal staff training. You will decide the best methods to deliver the training and course curriculum and prepare the necessary materials, locations, and supplies accordingly.

You will use your excellent communication skills to explain and demonstrate tasks that are to be performed. You will emphasize all safety aspects of the jobs and tasks and review any applicable job safety analyses with each employee. Additionally, you will schedule, organize, and provide supplemental training when necessary.

You will ensure that tools and equipment are appropriately cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety where necessary. You will guide, assign, schedule, and supervise each student’s work, ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with the assigned curriculum. You will provide evaluations based on performance and goals in a timely and constructive manner.

You will ensure that each student follows all established rules and meets the expectations for appropriate conduct within the training classes. You will participate in and complete professional and individual career development sessions as required to stay current with best practices in your field. You will consistently contribute to our company's success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results. By doing so, you will be assisting the technicians to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and/or update training program curriculums for each role and supporting materials such as training guides, practical exercises, assessments, and other handouts consistent with product updates and releases
Enhance the skills of existing and newly hired technicians as we continue to deliver on our customer promise to provide the highest levels of home comfort service - and value;
Provide training for all install and service technicians to ensure they fully understand the installation/service process as outlined in the manual
Ensure all shop tools are kept up and operational. This includes but is not limited to, combustion analyzers, testing equipment, vacuum pumps, and recovery machines
Monitor the progress of each employee under guidance using appropriate metrics
Identify, coordinate, and integrate equipment manufacturer - and third-party training resources for product-specific training as needed
Make suggestions on improving work procedures
Promote positive goodwill on behalf of our company to customers and employees alike while representing the company's core values

Key Sub Tasks:

Craft and deliver lesson plans, training modules, skill practice sessions, quizzes, and tests
Coordinate and perform ride-along training
Identify trainee technical weaknesses and provide support and solutions; hold trainees to high accountability
Continually evaluate procedures to monitor and analyze training effectiveness and update curriculum as needed.
Develop an apprenticeship Program for new hires
Attending all seminars that the company feels will enable the manager to service its customers better / improve technicians. All seminars and training classes are free
Conduct training sessions covering specific areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required initiative, motivation, creativity, and ability to understand many areas of expertise
Ability to assess needs related to our practices and procedures and produce training programs and materials to target those needs
Leadership skills to effectively direct employees while in a training environment
The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, trainees, other team members, and customers
Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the company.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary to produce and deliver quality training programs
Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment and as part of a team
Must possess the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues
Strong planning and organizational skills
Proven presentation and facilitation skills to audiences of different skill levels and age ranges
Experience in facilitating product and technical training
Proven track record of training/teaching ability and success in service/customer service businesses
Knowledge of Windows, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Previous teaching or trainer experience is preferred.

A valid and clean driver's license Is required. You must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
