Air-Source Heat Pump Advantages

Advances in Technology Makes a Heat Pump System More Efficient Than Ever

Air-source heat pumps are a popular choice among homeowners who want to heat and cool their homes more efficiently. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, these units can carry nearly three times more heat energy into your home than the electrical energy they use. This is because instead of converting heat from a fuel, similar to combustion heating systems, a heat pump moves heat.

Today’s air-source heat pumps are twice as efficient and perform better than earlier models. Here are some other advantages to installing one in your home:

  • Air-source heat pumps are proven money savers. They are cheaper to buy and install than other heat pumps. Because these units use electricity to transfer heat — rather than generate it — they are relatively inexpensive to operate.
  • These heat pumps act as a two-in-one system. Air-source heat pumps are designed to serve as heating and air conditioning units.
  • They can provide central heating to your home. A multi-split heat-pump system allows you to have up to eight indoor units coupled with a single outdoor unit. Some air heat pumps are equipped with “Reverse Cycle Chillers” (RCC), which offer more options for heating and cooling distribution and allow the unit to perform efficiently in below-freezing temperatures.
  • Air-source heat pumps are equipped with a built-in defrost control. This feature minimizes the unit’s defrost cycle and reduces the need for additional electric energy for heating.
  • Airsource heat pumps are environmentally friendly. These units do not pollute the air with products of combustion and will lower your carbon footprint (which is the effect our activities have on the environment).
